From Basketball to Baseball....

Spring is getting closer!
Okay, the sun is out and Edgar is apparently ready for opening day. I'm coming out from the dark depression of the Zag's loss and waiting with baited breath for next year. Potential of the team playing pre-season in Mexico...think my friend would be upset if I ditched her wedding to go watch them play? Hee, yeah, probably not a good idea!

With Texas' loss to Duke my bracket is officially destroyed, none of my final four teams are still around....soooo it is time to turn the big ol' switch in my head over to baseball. Hmm...pre-season lists are starting to come out regarding who will win what division. Love the way Paul co-opted his nephew Owen into helping him pick the top teams, as likely to end up being true as any other prediction! I'd set forth my predictions but based on how well my bracket did, any team I think is going all the way is likely to suffer uncharacteristic lack of ability to play early on. Now if I was to use my power for evil I could always pick the Yankees and hope the evil mojo breaks that club wide open (if the friction between Jeter and A-Rod doesn't do it first...I'm betting mid-July for the first screaming match during a game after Jeter bobbles an easy ball).

Now, in an attempt to make sure Kris gets his schedule set and shows up for the games to buy me my brat and beer we've got a full slate of games set already. First the official Day After Opening Day game (yes, the one everyone wants to go to!) on April 7th. I'm thinking we get to see Pinerio pitch since Moyer pitching opening day and Joel is now the number 2 guy. Next up, May 22nd to watch the Detroit Tigers...hmm not sure why that date was circled but could be amusing to see how Pudge does. Then the next day taking the kids to Safeco to watch the Tigers up in the bleachers. I know other bloggers rail about the kiddie-friendly antics at Safeco but it is really to long of a game to keep their attention the full time so I'm going to be way happy to let them run out their energy in the play area. Watching games live is a way to keep them interested in the sport, although Austin only cares for Ichiro despite my attempt to sway him over to the cult of Edgar. Then the massive family outing on July 19th as we see the Red Soxs over on first base area. Should be a great game as my grandpa is a Braves fan and will be the mediator between my brother and I (Mariners) and my cousin and his dad (Red Soxs). Then our chance to toast to Lou from the Hit It Here Cafe August 23rd (actually good margaritas available). Then Red Soxs again on September 10th and, of course, the last game of the regular season on October 3rd.

Sigh, can hardly wait for games to start!
